As an eighth-generation member of the 150-year family winemaking legacy, Joseph Herzog knows the business of wine. Prior to coming to California, Joseph worked at the Herzog-owned winery Kedem, located in upstate New York. During this time, Joseph served as Kedem’s assistant manager and was an integral part in developing the remodel of the winery’s tasting room. In 2006, with the family’s desire to create a state-of-the-art production facility in California, Joseph moved from the snow to the sunshine to become Herzog Wine Cellars’ general manager. As the family’s onsite representative, Joseph oversees everything from Herzog’s California vineyard partnerships to the winery’s special events, tasting room as well as its in-house, fine-dining restaurant, Tierra Sur.
