Herzog
Wine Country

There are many definitions of the term terroir, and it is often overused or misused. No two blocks, vineyards, sub-appellations, or appellations are the same, and in each vintage they can express themselves differently through the winemaking process and in the bottle. There is also a tradition or emotional tie to a wine or a grape’s birthplace. Certain grape-growing areas evoke emotions or perceptions in the winemaker, similar to memories of the home in which one grew up. Our responsibility is to express each vineyard’s sense of place by thoughtfully managing all of its critical factors, including climate, soil, vintage, and the people who directly impact wine quality.
